The Spark
This was the era of dial-up modems and GeoCities. Driven by a deep curiosity, I taught myself HTML and learned the fundamentals of web development by building my first sites from scratch.
About
My client base was built entirely on client referrals, a testament to the trust and results I deliver.

I'm a strategic web consultant who loves untangling complex digital challenges. For over 15 years, I’ve worked with businesses to help them build exceptional websites and find clarity in their digital strategy.
But my journey didn’t start in a meeting room. It began back in the 90s, with the iconic sound of a dial-up modem.
I was using my student account on Jaring, Malaysia’s first ISP, and I remember watching images load on the screen one line at a time. I was hooked. Right away, I knew I didn’t just want to visit other people’s sites. I had to have a page of my own.
My first thought was to get some software to do the work for me. I begged my dad for a copy of Microsoft FrontPage, but he gave me some tough advice that ended up shaping my entire career.
“If you want to do it, learn it yourself.”
So I did it the hard way. I pooled my duit raya (pocket money from the Hari Raya festival) and bought my first book on HTML. My first creation was a GeoCities site, and I quickly learned the realities of web development back then. If you wanted something to work, you had to write for both Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator.
That early experience taught me that the “invisible” work underneath is what truly matters.
Years later, while I was working as a UI Consultant, that foundational lesson hit home in a big way. A project was stuck. A specific piece of JavaScript was making the page crawl on older browsers like Internet Explorer 6. I was stumped until a senior colleague pointed out something I’d missed about how the browser was rendering the code.
That was a lightbulb moment for me. It became crystal clear that how you write your code has a direct and massive impact on performance.
This experience shaped my entire professional philosophy. How a website feels is as important as how it looks. Its speed, its reliability, and how easily people can find it. These are the things that build lasting trust and create real value.
This wasn’t just a theory. When I focused on these principles at a major e-commerce company, the results spoke for themselves. We quadrupled our revenue from organic search and made our mobile site one of the top 3 fastest in its category in Malaysia.
It’s an approach I’ve carried with me ever since.
Each stage of my career taught me a valuable lesson, shaping my approach from a hands-on developer to a strategic partner who delivers real business impact.
This was the era of dial-up modems and GeoCities. Driven by a deep curiosity, I taught myself HTML and learned the fundamentals of web development by building my first sites from scratch.
Eager to move beyond a hobby, I landed my first professional role. Here, I began designing and developing interactive web solutions for real business clients, solving their challenges with code.
This period was about mastering the complete craft of the front end. I was responsible for designing user interfaces for various projects and then writing the clean, high-performance code that brought them to life.
My focus shifted to improving the user experience on a massive scale. I spearheaded the adoption of responsive design, creating a consistent and usable online presence for a huge audience.
Here, my technical skills were directly tied to business results. I led optimization initiatives in technical SEO and site speed that quadrupled organic revenue and made our mobile site one of the fastest in its market.
My role evolved beyond execution to focus on strategic leadership. I became the link between the founders’ vision and the team, guiding prioritization to ensure all deliverables met leadership expectations.
Today, I bring all these lessons directly to my clients. I founded Unsurmeta Media to act as a trusted advisor, helping businesses navigate their digital journey with clarity and confidence.
I’ve worn every hat. As a developer, a designer, and a strategist, I bring the unique insight needed to ensure your project is successful from every angle.
